Rider X (virtual desktop)


Rider X (Chrome)

Rider X is similar to Excel on Demand (EoD), but with additional security features that meet requirements in DPC.
Please Note: DISPLAY variables must not be set in .cshrc. You can get the DISPLAY value from the title bar of the EOD window.
 To install and connect with Rider X, perform the following steps:
Open Chrome and go to https://kaybee01 .
1.      You will receive an error message.  Click the Advanced link to continue. 
2.      Click the “Proceed to kaybee01 (unsafe)” link at the bottom.
3.      Enter your corporate username and password. Click Sign In to continue.
4.      Register on the signup screen.
Please Note: You are only required to fill out the first two fields. Click Save to continue.
5.      The launch wizard will open. Click Next to continue.
6.      The wizard will automatically detect your OS.  Click Download to download the client, then click Next to continue.
7.      Go to the download location for the client and open it. Click Next to continue. 
8.      Click the first radio button to accept the EULA terms and click Next to continue. 
9.      Click Install to continue. 
10.  Click Finish to continue. 
11.  The wizard will verify your setup. 

Please Note: Some users may get a client launcher error. Click Next, then Back in order to try again. 

  1. Click the plus sign next to Profiles.  
  2. Select “Default Custom Startup” as a template for the profile, then click the “Create Profile” button.
  3. Enter a title for your new profile, then click on the Startup menu.
  4. Select Custom Startup if it has not already been selected. Then click the “Plus” button.
  5. Enter your kaybee01-username (kaybee01-jdoe, kaybee01-lchan, etc). In the Command box, enter the command for the correct session. If you are using KDE, enter /user/bin/startkde. If you are using Gnome, enter /usr/bin/gnome-session. Click the “OK” button when done. 
  6. Click “Save”.
  7. Mouse over the newly created profile and click the “Play” button. First time users will see a warning box. Select “Always open these types of links in the associated app”, then click the “Open ETX Client Launcher” button to continue.
  8. Accept the certificate and click Next to continue. 
  9. The desktop will launch.
